The successful completion of a major office renovation project for the State of Tennessee’s Department of Human Services’ Upper Cumberland District Office. DHS officially relocated from its former facility to a newly remodeled space on Foreman Drive in Cookeville. Work began in October 2024 and reached completion in March 2025 — an impressive turnaround for such a complex and comprehensive build-out.
The new state facility includes three spacious breakrooms, private office spaces, open concept administrative areas, a spacious waiting room and receptionist area, conference rooms, and a training room.
J&S Construction collaborated closely with DHS throughout both the design and construction phases to ensure the space aligned with all functional and operational requirements. The State provided a new design that significantly altered the building’s original layout, requiring a highly coordinated and responsive effort from both teams.
Despite a tight timeline and evolving design requirements, J&S Construction delivered a high-quality, fully customized facility that successfully met the State’s needs within the project’s tight schedule. The successful delivery of this fast-paced, high-demand project reinforces J&S’ reputation as a reliable partner for public sector construction and renovation initiatives across Tennessee.
