The Clinton County Public Library in Albany, Ky., has officially reopened its doors following the completion of a selective renovation that has transformed the space into a more modern, welcoming environment for the close-knit community. The library was upgraded to focus on creating a more adaptable and engaging space, especially for teens and outdoor programming.

Planning began in fall 2023, with one of the library’s main goals being the creation of a dedicated space for the teens and young adults of Clinton County—a place where they could study, spend time with friends, and enjoy activities tailored specifically for them. Another important priority was transforming the courtyard into a peaceful outdoor area for reading and relaxation.

J&S Construction was honored to lead both the interior and exterior renovation work. Inside, the team removed all existing flooring, ceiling tiles, and signage. Walls were patched and repainted, and all ceiling tiles were replaced. New flooring included a mix of modern carpet tiles and distinctive luxury vinyl plank (LVP). Lighting was also upgraded, with new lay-in LED lights installed in drop ceilings and sleek linear lighting added to areas with high ceilings.

The programming room received custom sliding marker boards, acoustic ceiling baffles, and updated lighting to support a variety of community events. The teen room was enhanced with a sliding sound baffle system to create a more comfortable and private environment.

Outside, the old, fenced area was demolished to make way for a new seating space. J&S crews installed a new footer and constructed a curved seating wall using 8-inch CMU blocks. Within the wall, a multi-level Trex deck stage was built, surrounded by artificial turf and bordered with pavers. A black aluminum gate provides secure access, and built-in umbrella holders offer flexible shade options.

This renovation marks a new chapter for the Clinton County Public Library, creating a vibrant, functional space that better serves the needs of all visitors—especially the next generation.
