When a hangar needs to accomplish more than simply house aircraft, such as support daily operations, represent your business, and perform for the long haul, intentional design and disciplined construction practices matter. This approach guided J&S Construction in the completion its latest hangar project, a 26,200-square-foot, ground-up private aviation hangar at Nashville International Airport, constructed to support the aviation needs of a leading healthcare organization.
Designed around real-world aviation use, this facility brings operational efficiency and executive functionality under one roof. A multi-level office component supports both flight operations and client interaction, with a modern conference room, pilot support areas, and a lounge featuring full-size kitchen amenities and solid-surface countertops. Interior finishes blend durability with a clean, modern aesthetic, incorporating acoustic tile ceilings, dry-fall open ceilings, and exposed structural elements that balance performance and flexibility. The layout also provides expandable office zones, allowing the facility to grow alongside the organization’s evolving operational needs.
A seamless epoxy floor system provides durability and spill resistance with additional high-performance building systems including an overhead HVLS fan, automatic exhaust ventilation, and a distributed air compressor system.
Aircraft access is streamlined through remote-controlled sliding hangar doors, overhead sectional doors, and motion-activated high-bay lighting, delivering both functionality and energy efficiency.
From the exterior in, the facility reflects careful planning and long-term thinking. Natural light is introduced through expansive storefront windows at the primary entry, complemented by insulated wall panels that enhance thermal efficiency. Architectural elements such as an extended parapet and a layered wraparound canopy with integrated lighting create a strong, professional presence on the airfield.
The site was developed to support secure and seamless aviation operations, with controlled-access parking, full AOA access, and an integrated security system with access control and surveillance. Additional features include an on-site fuel farm with monitoring capabilities and masonry wainscoting for added durability and further support operational reliability and longevity.
For organizations and corporate flight departments considering aviation facility investments, this project demonstrates what is possible when a hangar is designed around operational precision, safety, and long-term performance. From concept through completion, J&S Construction delivers aviation facilities built to perform, built to last, and built to support the mission behind every flight.
