| Who We Are |
At J&S Construction we believe in "Going the Extra Mile." But what exactly does that mean for you, the client? Read the following paragraph to find out.
In Biblical times the law allowed a Roman soldier to make a Jew carry his back pack for exactly one Roman mile, or a thousand paces. At that time no one liked being forced to carry anything any distance for a Roman soldier. Jesus said if they were required to carry it a mile, then carry it two miles - Matthew 5:41.
This means we should go beyond what is expected of us in helping others. At J&S we have adopted this philosophy and it shows in the quality of our work and in the comments of our clients.

| Our Roots |
Our roots began during the Great Depression when, in 1932, Pat Stites began a small sand and gravel partnership in Cookeville, Tennessee.
 Stites was a construction business pioneer in the Upper Cumberlands, a flourishing region even then. His family business had many firsts, including: the first to introduce ready-mix concrete to the region, the first to open a cash-and-carry lumber yard, and the first to design and build a concrete block plant. The company, now known as J&S Construction, got its start in 1957 by Pat's son, John. Today, more than 50 years later, John's sons, Jack and Johnny, are leading J&S Construction into the next millennium as the premier Design/Build construction firm in Tennessee.
J&S has been recognized numerous times for excellence in construction. One of the firm's highest honors came in the form of the Tennessee Quality Achievement Award.
